SATO America barcode label printers offered impressive performance, quality and reliability. But they competed with firms that outspent them in advertising 10 to 1. How could they counteract the assault on their industry leadership?

After terminating their relationship with a large San Jose-based agency, SATO America turned to Creative-Ops for advertising and media placement. Our first advertisement was designed to appeal to an audience that was unfamiliar with barcode label printers as a category. They only knew that they needed a label.

The idea worked. This advertisement outscored all other ads in one publication with its high readership, which was three times higher than several prominent two-page spreads placed by their International Corporate Agency in the same book. The same ad grabbed readership awards in several key industry publications, generated leads both to the website and over the telephone, and set the tone for a series of dramatic product ads.
